Jamieson & Smith 2ply Lace Weight is a woollen spun yarn made from 50% Fine Shetland wool and 50% Lambswool.                              

Traditionally used in Shetland Lace haps and scarves, this yarn is also perfect for light garments such as shawls, scarves, wraps and summer sweaters. This yarn can be used in vintage patterns which call for 3ply, it is also often used for knitting Sanquahar Gloves and can be held together with other yarns.

I have previously knitted a Shetland shawl using lace weight yarn with no problems. This yarn is inconsistent in thickness and, although I am on only about a third of the way through making the shawl, the yarn has broken on two occasions. This is frustrating as the knitting has to be unpicked to the break, and the wool rejoined.
